All products come with free local shipping, please add S$2.50 for registered post (we recommend registered post, as we will not be responsible for any items lost in the mail).

As certain items are exclusive and limited in stock, please await our confirmation of receipt of your order, before making payment.

As with all handcrafted products, some of the wood items may have minor imperfections which add to the character of the product, and these should not be taken as defects. Please buy only if you are comfortable with this.

To make payment:

After receiving our confirmation email listing your order, all payment is to be made to POSB Savings 093-87308-4 or UOB Savings 347-374-1596. 

Once you have made payment, please drop us an email with:

(1) the transaction reference, including the name of the bank and the account number you have made payment from; and

gilt & folly

I spent my Friday night exploring gilt & folly at Scotts Square. It's run by the same people behind Proof Living (in ION Orchard) and Poltrona Frau (also in Scotts Square). The salesperson was extremely friendly and helpful and made my experience there a very pleasant one. I'll definitely return for their furniture, as they have quite a few unique pieces.

My favourite was the Haviland Bunching Table, which can be bunched together for a larger table. Beautiful and practical! I didn't manage to snap a shot of them, but they're the pair of tables at the entrance of the shop.

I'm a huge fan of scuba diving, so I chuckled at this set of 3 prints of a giant octopus. I'd love to have it on my wall!

I would store sparkly Christmas baubles in this lamp, to add a sparkle to the room.

Photo Shoot Day One

It was a big learning experience for us today, doing product photography for the first time. We played with the lighting, the angles and the styling of the products and managed to grab a few nice shots. We still have lots to learn and it's a steep learning curve!

Hometown Inspiration

I've been surfing the web, trying to look for inspiration on how to style our products for our photo shoot this coming Saturday. It'll be a busy busy weekend for us, as we take our virgin stab at product photography. Fingers crossed that we'll be able to do justice to our gorgeous products!

I'm getting a lot of tips from Lonny (here), with pages and pages of absolutely stunning photos. Here are some, from the December 2012 issue:

See the white geometric ball? We have something very similar coming up on www.hometown.sg (under construction). Stay tuned!

We also have pillar candle holders coming up -  1pair of white, 1 pair of black and 1 pair of white & black. I'm positive that they will sit beautifully on your study desk or on your dressing table, and you can have lots of fun with the colours of your pillar candles to add a punch of colour to any surface!

We didn't manage to find bell jars on this sourcing trip, but rest assured that we are keeping our eyes peeled for them. I can't wait to have one on my study desk so that I can put random objects in there to keep me inspired throughout the week.

Add a whimsical touch of Asia in your home, to complement your decor or to add an unexpected touch. We have Thai-inspired tealight holders in store for you and it'll definitely be an eye-catching centrepiece on any table.

Home Town Decor Update & Weekly Inspiration

My partner and I just returned from a very hectic sourcing trip, which saw us up and about from 7am to 5pm over 2 days, trawling through countless stores to bring the most gorgeous home decor accessories to you. We're currently hard at work unpacking boxes of items and checking through each and every one of them. 

We were heartbroken to find that some items were broken or damaged during transit even though they were swathed in newspaper and bubble wrap, but we will try to fix them for use in our own homes, since we love them too much to throw them away.
 

We only bought items which we really loved, and hope that you will feel inspired to decorate, when you see the items on our website (under construction).

In the meantime, here are some photos which have inspired me during the past week! Enjoy!

What a gorgeous bedroom. I love everything about it, from the grey curtains to the simple but chic lamp, to the classic bedside console, the bed frame, the patterned pillows and of course, the teal ottoman. Sleek and Chic! (from here)

What an ingenious way to mix patterns, stripes, chevrons and checks! (Does anyone know the name of the pattern on the cushion on the bed?) The trick is to incorporate similar colours, in this case, white, grey and black, to introduce a common element to pull the look together. 

Notice the low hanging picture frame? What a smart idea to free up space on your bedside console, and yet have your favourite picture right next to your bed. (from here)

What a beautiful setting for a relatively small bedroom. I love that the bedside consoles are mis-matched, providing 2 different kinds of storage solutions. The mis-matched consoles save this bedroom from being just too symmetrical. (from here)

I absolutely love this lucite storage trunk with chrome handles by Serge de Troyer. It's a modern day treasure chest, practical yet stunning at the same time. The lucite also reflects light to some extent, brightening up the room and making it seem more spacious. (Got US$3000 to spare? Get one from here)

My mother has always advised against getting wallpaper in Singapore, since the humidity destroys the wallpaper rather quickly, causing edges to curl. However, it seems that newer materials are being used in recent times, and today's wallpaper offers a dazzling array of styles and patterns for you to choose from. These include embossed wallpapers and those with tactile accents. 

This pretty blue seascape wallpaper caught my eye - not too much, yet it adds a very subtle and interesting element to the room. (from here)

Newly Renovated Home Decor Department at Tangs

I was exploring the newly renovated home decor section of Tangs Orchard last week, and spotted a few items I would love to have in my house! Unfortunately, I found that the prices for quite a few of the items were too steep for my budget. Nonetheless, I managed to sneak some shots of my favourite items, and am sharing them with you!

 

Gold animals always add a quirky touch to any bookcase or tabletop. These gold reindeers (S$18.90) are pretty, but they're made of cheap plastic and are extremely light. I would have bought one if they had a bit of heft to them.

 

These pretty candlesticks caught my eye. A label says that they are made of nickel (silvery with a tinge of gold), which means that they will be less likely to oxidise and change colour.

And that might explain the price tag of S$37 per candlestick!

I love this pair of adorable owls housed in a beautiful bell jar, which would be perfect on any console or in a bookcase. The bell jars are really nice and the wood is relatively solid, and would be perfect for displaying your favourite items or even a vintage photo!

The smaller bell jars on the right are going for S$99, which was the only reason I didn't get one... I didn't dare lift up the bigger bell jar, so I don't know how much that one costs...it's almost twice the size of the smaller bell jars though! 

We will keep an eye out for bell jars on our sourcing trip, and hopefully present you with a more wallet-friendly option!

 Owl book-ends (S$69). Too cute!

Zuny leather dinosaur! These faux leather animals are too cute to be true... they are stuffed with iron sand, giving each of them considerable weight. They are meant to be used as bookends or as door stoppers. 

I liked this dinosaur the best! Here's their website, have fun browsing through their very wide range of animals! (http://www.zuny.info/)

I also like their Hippo from the Zuny Classic Series (here) and the Kangaroo from the Zuny Series (here).

S$99... I would pay S$99 for real leather, but would think twice for faux leather.

The silver reindeers are made of the same cheap plastic material as the gold reindeers, but somehow, I couldn't resist bringing a shiny silver reindeer home! They are also considerably cheaper at S$9.90 each, since they are almost half the size of the gold reindeers.

I found some potential glass receptacles for terrariums at the Tangs glassware section - nothing as unique as the geometric receptacles on Etsy, but cute enough if you can't find any alternatives.

I bought these gold ferns and leaves as well, all from Tangs, and stuffed them into a used ginger beer bottle (deliciously spicy ginger beer from John Hollows, from Cut the Mustard (http://www.cutthemustard.com.sg/).

And if you're wondering...yes, I use men's cologne instead of women's perfume! My current scents are Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme and John Varvatos Artisan.

When I'm feeling moody or disheartened, my sparkly 'believe' takes the place of my silver reindeer... so I'm reminded that sometimes, faith is enough to get you through the dark days.
